I got a pen and ink set from my art teacher, but I can't get it to work? What am I doing wrong?
I dip it in the ink, I put it on the paper and I try to draw a line, but it just kind of scratches the page but I hardly makes an ink mark at all, Im not pressing hard because my teacher told me not to do that. I love pen and ink drawings and I would really lke to try it but its just not working.

The nib of the pen often has to be "broken in " to your style of writing. The angle that you hold the pen also affects the contact area of the nib on the paper. A new nib often has a film of oil or grease on it to prevent rust in storage - this could be preventing the ink from clinging to the metal. Clean the nib with a detergent or non oily solvent, experiment with different writing angles and your pen should soon work fine - assuming its not damaged.
