Can I get out of a lease if I signed it 7 days ago?
I signed a lease to rent a property after viewing it once with the landlord. During the viewing, the family who lived there were in - their stuff was everywhere and the house looked in need of decoration but otherwise ok. I got the keys today - its awful! The furniture was hiding big holes in the wallpaper and mould in the kitchen. The bath panelling is cracked. The carpets are dirty and stained and the house is not clean. I was told that the house would be redecorated and cleaned before I moved in. This hasn't happened. They now say they will paint and redecorate the two bedrooms but the rest of the house is still horrible. Is there any way out of this. Its costing me £450 per month! I'd appreciate any advice as I'm just feeling so down and sick at the thought of living there.
You have a lousy landlord. That is not fair. You paid your hard-earned money and you deserve better.
You can not get out of the lease for dirtiness. You could only get out if there were gunshots in the parking lot. A judge would release you immediately for that.
This is going to make you so much smarter for the rest of your life. Never again will you give a stranger money without writing on your check- the house must be sparkling clean or i get my money back. If the landlord refuses, guess what you are going to get. And you will always write a handwritten note on the lease saying "I may break the lease at any time by paying ____". If the landlord refuses, you know they will not be letting you out.
Your options today are few and they are all bad. /
