How to troubleshoot a broken car subwoofer?
Ok, I have a 12inch Type R Alpine sub with an Alpine amp. Recently it has been cutting out for short periods of time and coming back again. Today it died completely. I checked all of the connections and everything seems fine.
The little light on the amplifier is on, so I assume power is fine (no broken fuses). The subwoofer does nothing, so its not a blown cone or whatever.
Any helps would be really appreciated.
test the amp. plug in another source into the RCA. Like an iPod. if the sub plays, it's your radio's rca outputs that are bad. if not, now you look at the amp out put. Disconnect sub, and connect a test speaker you know works. If it plays, you know two things now: Your amp works fine, and your sub is crap. change the sub
