Christians when you say that atheists have no morals are you saying that?
the only reason why your being good is because there's a god. are what you saying that if god disappeared or wasn't looking you'd start to kill people. thats what it pretty much sounds like when you say " if you don't believe in god why be good?". and another thing why do all christians do is judge.
It is God Who says,
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
Their feet are swift to shed blood:
Destruction and misery are in their ways:
And the way of peace have they not known:
There is no fear of God before their eyes.
That pretty emphatically includes everyone, every last man jack of us.
So no one has any morals, as you put it.
Only God is good and only by Him can there be any goodness.
Only those who live by Him, by His life can do any good and it is not their own goodness.
Now you might wonder if we are all in such an absolutely wicked and wretched state why doesn't this world descend to absolute depravity?
Well you will if you are thinking.
That is the mystery of iniquity - And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
The answer is contained in the text. God restrains man from that terrible descent, although He allows some as examples and warnings.
Why?
Because otherwise the world would have to be judged and all would be lost. Of course at the end that will happen, but in the meantime God longsuffers sin that some might be saved.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Sadly, oh so sadly, Atheists and the self righteous take advantage of His love and compassion and longsuffering to proudly denigrate Him and exalt themselves, as I say sadly, to their own destruction.
Some love to mock and taunt God as they taunted Christ - And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,
And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.
Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,
He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.
Of course God can prove it to them but then they and all would be lost. How foolish can't you see?
And of course, sadly, it must go the worse for them to spurn His longsuffering like that.
Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
Who will render to every man according to his deeds.
Will their consciences not burn the more for having so abused the Goodness of God? Will they not hate themselves and loathe themselves when they see themselves in the full light of God's Goodness? And will not the gnawing self reproach bite very deeply for have rejected what was offered that they might have been spared?
It is too awful to contemplate. That is the burning. The burning of the spirit and of the conscience.
You might have noticed the frequent recurrence of the word longsuffering? Because God is not just loving but is Love.
If you are still following then, "ah, deeds," you might say. "But we do deeds, good deeds."
Only the deeds wrought by and in God are good deeds acceptable to Him, as already indicated above. All others are tainted by sin and selfish motive (which is what you are trying to accuse in your question) and are the result of God's restraining anyway. That restraint preserves man to give opportunity so that he might be saved.
Of course that is all far too humbling to the pride of man.
God is not the dumb fool that so many love to paint Him as. And not just by the Atheists but also by the self righteous, who make God out to be like themselves, perhaps just a better version.
But He is entirely above us and greater than us beyond what we can imagine. Such glory as will consume us unless we are cleansed and changed to be made glorious compatible with His glory.
